What customers say?

“ Celebrated a special occasion by visiting this Osteria following the mostly positive reviews on Google. Warmly welcomed on a damp cold evening by the serving staff, the ambience was both homely and inviting as we sat near to the wood fired pizza oven in the room centre. I can honestly say the service was very good throughout with lovely food served against each course; the Wild Boar special was particularly good, followed by a tiramisu so good it reminded us of a recent Italian adventure. Heartily recommended, we'd certainly revisit if in the area again. ”

“ Went for an anniversary meal here recently. The quality of food was excellent. Genuinely the best desserts (tiramisu and profiteroles) we'd ever had at an Italian restaurant. Value for money is superb - authentic, good sized portions, at prices that are very competitive with chain restaurants. A hidden gem in Stratford that is clearly loved by local residents. ”

“ I visited this gem of an eatery before I went to the theatre on a Monday evening at 5.15pm. My first impression was one of rustic charm and a beautiful restaurant in typical Italian style. It was friendly with a lovely waitress and I was welcomed like an old friend! The food was absolutely amazing and so beautifully cooked and tasty! It was the best king prawn and scallop risotto I have ever had and the home made tiramisu was heavenly. Thankyou for a fab dining experience which was all round I will be back!! ”

“ Da Gino si va pianino! Very nice atmosphere - I really like the nonchalant vibe to the place, like you were in southern Italy. That said, the mains took one hour from ordering to serving, and the place wasn't half full. I recommend ordering an excess of starters to avoid range anxiety for the mains! The staff is very nice and friendly - although also challenging. One of our mains came without any sides (while the other two did), and we weren't offered any when ordering. We suggested to the waiter sides should have been offered when the order was taken, but her response was "it's all written in the menu, do you want me to show you?" I like the direct reply and I can read between the lines, but that might not swing with all cultures. Recognizing the kitchen was too busy, the chef said he couldn't make Zabaglione for desert, which I'll have to come back to try as it's one of my favourites. The starter was probably the highlight (Burrata Fritta). Mains were good, but nothing to write home about. Altogether a very nice experience albeit not flawless - but that's what makes life interesting! I will come back. ”

“ Lovely restaurant serving the 9 of us delightfully and efficiently - great food, atmosphere and reasonable. Parking nearby. What was most refreshing was we overpaid when we split the bill and they came back to us to return the excess - thank you! ”

“ We had a great family meal for my daughter's birthday whilst in Stratford. The restaurant was very busy but the staff and service were still excellent. I would definitely recommend booking this place. Don't just show up. It's atmospheric and obviously very popular. We didn't get a picture of the sharing platter we had for starters but that was great as well as all the other food being excellent. ”

“ Busy, classic Italian with a relaxed, neighborhood feel—and we loved it! When we arrived without a booking on a busy Saturday, we were skeptical we’d get a table, but (what I think was the owner or manager) managed to squeeze us into the last table for two, which we hugely appreciated! The restaurant feels quite traditional, with a mixture of dates, older families, and tourist groups. Service was prompt and very polite, and we never felt rushed once! We tried the arancini balls, the prawn and avocado salad, and the sausage pasta—which was amazing and a great portion! We also had the house red wine that, although I didn’t check, I think was a lovely Chianti at a great price—you can always tell how good a restaurant is by the house wine. We left feeling happy, very full, and warm on a January evening. ”
